About Us

Our Story

We love everything about the highland cow. Its distinct appearance, its cultural importance, and its gentle temperament are just some of the reasons why we decided to open The Highland Cow Shop & Coffee Spot in June 2023. Run by Fiona and Robbie, we’re a family business that’s supported by a small, friendly team who share our enthusiasm for highland cows.

Located on the Isle of Skye, we give visitors and locals alike the chance to get their hands on elusive highland cow merchandise, all while enjoying some homemade and locally sourced food and drink in our deli. Our motto is if you don’t manage to see a highland cow, our shop provides the next best thing!

Dog Friendly

At The Highland Cow Shop, we’re not just dog friendly—we’re completely dog daft! Puppies are especially welcome, though fair warning: service may pause momentarily as our team admires your furry friend.

Owners Fiona and Robbie are proud dog parents to Sid, a lively cocker spaniel, and Miki, a rescue dog from Serbia who spent six years in a shelter before finding his forever home. Now, Miki enjoys exploring the magical island, soaking up stunning dog walks, and receiving all the love he could ever dream of.

Our shop often hosts as many four-legged visitors as humans, and our amazing team loves meeting every single one. Bring your pup along—we can’t wait to meet them!

Such good hot chocolate and highland cows everywhere. Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs! Everything is on the ground

Stopped for a quick bit. Very small selection of pies and sandwiches. Tried the pork and blue cheese pie, was so surprised how good it was. Tender, moist, not overpowered blue cheese flavor pork in a light flaky crust. Almost wanted a second but was full from the first. Good selection of jams, meats and cheeses

Lovely little cafe in Portree. Looks small from the outside but very spacious inside. Seating area to consume food and coffee or takeaway is available. Lots of lovely unique Scottish based gifts. Staff very friendly and helpful. Coffee was delicious and reasonably priced. Brownies were so good too. Highly recommend
